En Bloc Implant Removal
En bloc implant removal is a surgical technique used to remove breast implants along with the surrounding capsule of scar tissue in one single unit. This approach is often sought by individuals who experience complications related to breast implants or those who wish to have their implants removed entirely for various reasons, including health concerns or personal preference.
Addressing Complications: This technique is often used in cases where there are complications such as implant rupture, capsular contracture (where the capsule around the implant hardens), or suspected breast implant illness.
After removal, the patient may need a breast lift or reshaping procedure depending on the individual’s needs and the extent of the original implants.
Immediate Post-Op: Expect swelling, bruising, and discomfort. Pain management will be provided as needed.
Initial Recovery: Most people can return to light activities within a week or two. Strenuous activities should be avoided for a few weeks.
Long-Term Recovery: Full recovery can take several months. The final appearance of the breast will become more apparent as swelling subsides and the tissues heal.
Residual Symptoms: In some cases, residual symptoms related to the original implant issues, such as inflammation or pain, may persist even after removal.
Aesthetic Results: The removal of implants and capsules can lead to changes in breast shape and size. Additional procedures like breast lift or augmentation may be considered to address these changes.
